Teignmouth , third trip lucky??????

today was the clubs first match of the year
after my last trips resulting in 3 blanks in a row includeing a well below freezing falorn huss hunt with rich last night ( it was even tooo cold for the beer i took), I was hopeing for more in the teign estuary

booked in by 7.30 and then desicion time where to fish , was anywhere inside estuary, 8 am -1pm with a high tide at 10.40ish


now i have only fished at teignmouth once and that was a few yeras ago after a cancelled boat trip , so i went back to this spit of land to fish the "back beach??" as was only place i knew

here i found a few others already setting up


picture was taken later when daylight decided to join us

main taget was flounder but other species would help, I was fishing worm baits with more bling than 50cent in a santa outfit

first cast and almost before second rod was out , nod nod first fish a whiteing which i thought was too small but scraped in at 30cm and 5 oz( and 1.5 points when i get onto this years comp)


soon after brian to my left managed a 7 oz whiteing than i got another at 5 oz again ( not the same fish as a seagull got that)

then all went dead but the weed started

texts and calls were soon flying about and we found all others were struggling = blanking
but despite conditions the banter on the beach was tops and kept spirits up but the moment of the day was when we all had a laugh at brian trying to untangle a cormorant which hit the other daves line( it flew/swam off fine after though)

we were also treated to the lifeboat crew zipping past several times


it stayed overcast and bitterly cold thoughout and we were pleased when the weigh in came arround, which didnt take too long as out of 16 anglers signed in , those 3 whiteing were the only fish caught

so........

I WON!!!!!!

brian came second and his fish got best specemin so we both walked away with £30

a great way to start the year with the club
and i managed a swift pint on way home to celebrate

Unlucky to the rest of ya fishing as well. I would however, just like to take this opportunity to tell a certain Welsh someone just how nice and warm my bed was at 06:15am this morning.... I even got a full fry up a bit later.

Well, I did try and tell you that you were all mad, but would ya listen???

Congratulations on your victory Dave, If i'd have know small whiting were present I would have given you some tips.

Take the rag to darts & organise some betting on worm races, keep a percentage of each pot to pay for their keep. You could even sell the winning worm to the lucky punter to train up for next week
