| 11/12/08 Off the old royal pier in Southampton Spent most of day out in the Lepe area looking for Cod. Not a single fish but a very nice day out in the Winter sun. Went to try out the Foul Ground (Wreck) by the Royal Pier. Not easy to anchor safely but managed it eventually. Had some good sounder traces but no fish. We anchored between the "foul area" sign and the lateral buoy. This is about 150 Yards up river of the Ferry Entrance. The water is about 7M deep. My buddy had a few nice twitchy bites casting into the channel. I concentrated on the shore side and didn't get a bite. We only had fresh squid with us and only fished for an hour. I'll give it ago another day. It is a safe little hide away at the end of the day when you don't want to get caught out by darkness or a blow. Terry __________________ Terry Solent     |
