Town quay 26/11/08

Evening anglers ,

Well after fridays "bass disaster" i just couldnt wait to get back down there for another bash at them , arrived at 6pm and met up with aaron , fished a mill pond sea state , very little wind and not too cold , straight from the off we were in with big whiting , and a few schoolies at distance on squid bait , surpringsingly it took nearly an hour to bag our first pout bait , then met up with deano who fancied a bash at livebaiting nice to meet you mate , rob couldnt attend , unfortunately bog bound , set deano up and it was time for a duel with the big silver bars ,,,,, a few hard hits on the pout over high water for me but resulted in nowt , then deans turn with a clonking rod bending take , unfortunately again turned into nowt , then out of no where had a good hit on rag bait at distane and pulled in a first for me from the quay this beautiful tub gurnard .............................



as ive said so many times this place can throw up anything , dean was being kept busy by the bass keep hiting and letting go of his live pout , im sure he was getting a little frustrated as i was for him , as it ended for dean he packed up about 12.30 and headed home bassless , damn shame mate i was willing you on to bag one mate , me and aaron kept at it bagging more whiting and pout you could shake a stick at ,,, better than sat there watching motionless rod tips though , then as the tide ebbed wallop it happened , a rod bending screaming run on my live pout ...... and straight under it went , lifted into the fish and tried to bully it out .....bugger it had snagged me ..... , let it take some line to pull its self out and he obliged by screaming even further under the quay and obstructions ,,,, battled it hard for 5 mins and out he came , not as big as i first thought as i lifted it over the railings but weighed in at a respectacle 5 lb 3 ozs .....................



job done

fished on hard untill 6am but suprinsingly quiet over low water, few more pout and whiting , no more takers for the pout and the spiders came on the feed .....time to go lol , great night in great company and another decent winter bass ,

I might anchor my boat next to the quay and see if I catch anything that way. Been blanking a lot outside the river mouth.
