| Not a Flounder, but who cares... I love fishing for flatties of any kind, they fascinate me, Rays, Flounder, Plaice, I don't really mind, as long as it's flat! With this in mind I set off on a quick trip this afternoon (Wednesday 26th Nov), targeting Flounder. I got to my chosen mark about 1:30pm, quickly set up both rods, one on a 2 hook flapper, the other a straight running leger, smacked on a bit of frozen crab, I don't mind fishing with frozen, as long as it's regularly changed, every 10-15 minutes or so, and put both rods out about 30 yds, I then set about moving my bucket away from the advancing tide, putting it down I turned back to my rods, only to see the left hand one see-sawing on the top of the tripod, with further progress impeded by the top rest, "bugger" I thought and legged it back to the tripod to retrieve the errant rod. I held it for a few seconds and the tip pulled down with a purpose, that's braid for you! Winding into it the water churned up where the bait was, un-Flounder like behaviour I thought, and a good little scrap resulted in a fine Bass being slid onto the beach ![]() Weighing in at 5lb 2oz, I was well pleased, A few quick photo's and I slid it back into the water, to hopefully spawn again and ensure future sport, Max however spent the next 10 minutes looking for it He does stuff like that, and wont get out of the water unless promised biscuits, whereupon the reaction is:- OK ,thats just for Twiddler! Only one other bite was had, and that, which had all the hallmarks of a flattie bite, did me in a snag, still I was'nt that bothered, it was a fun 3 hours. __________________ Remember what the dormouse said, ...... | Re: Not a Flounder, but who cares... Thanks Steve, it's rare nowadays that I feel the need to retain fish, only the odd Cod, or Sole if I'm lucky! I do think catch and release is incredibly important, we, as participants in a huge recreational activity, should lead by example, and not give the "anti's" any ammunition at all! __________________ Remember what the dormouse said, ......
