bassbandit is on a distinguished road
New pb Bass

Arrived home on Friday (24th Oct), to find a buzzing sound in the hallway, the boss had been and collected live sand eels from Wrigglers and thought this is going to be another float/freeline session. So off we went light gear for a change, (as usualy beach rods, tripods, tackle boxes etc) to Teignmouth usual place we fish during the week. Set up first cast small schoolie reply from other half was b*****d which spurred her on to catch a bass. Then she landed another small bass (kept her quiet for 5 mins), then about half hour later felt a light tug, kept feeding the line out, another tug the fish took the eel, let it take as much line as it wanted , backed off the drag to virtualy nothing flicked the bail arm over. Increased the drag a bit "Yes" fish on and it felt a good size, for the next 10/15 mins (seemed like forever) playing the fish let it take line tighten up the drag gain a few feet until it went off like a steamtrain the rod bent double and the reel screeming, eventualy beached the fish, what a monster the biggest i have caught so far.

The gear i was using was:

DAIWA SUPER SHINOBI 3PCE 12 FT SPINNING ROD (10-40GM)
SHIMANO STRADIC 2500 REAR DRAG (+FIGHTING DRAG)
.25 LINE AND SIZE 2 HOOK (THE BASS WAS HOOKED NEATLY IN THE CORNER OF THE MOUTH).

Then a quick phone call to Starcross bass he came down with his scales (did'nt bother bringing mine, but won't forget next time). He took one look at the tail (that was all that was showing from under the towels) and said F***K!!!!!.

Any way weighed the fish, the scales hit 12lb 2 oz
which well and truly beat the prevous pb of 7.5 lb.

Meantime not to be out done the boss had landed 6 bass and returned those to grow for another day.

A great session not one I will not forget.

Re: New pb Bass

Nice one BB. As far as I'm concerned a double figure Bass is my ultimate shore fishing goal, so I reckon that photo is awesome. Well done mate.
