Chesil wednesday/thursday

Took a few days off of work, mainly to get in a couple of trips up to Chesil, Wednesday was the first one, with Mark, and after battling through Weymouth, Mark and I got down to the a place near the wreck, it was chunking in a bit, and we smacked out crab baits and settled down to wait, I know that a few fish have come off of this bit of beach, so I had a good feeling about things. It was'nt long before Mark poked his head around the side of my brolly and waved a 3lb Codling at me, a quick autopsy revealed tiny crab and squat lobster, so we were on the right track. Just after dark I managed to snag a nice little fish about 2lbs, so I decided to try out self timer photography, in the dark.

That was the best one, which does'nt say a lot for the others! A few dogfish and pout followed, until I wandered down to cast, wandered back, only to find my rest/other rod stuffed into the beach, I grabbed it and wound down, thoughts of massive Cod in my mind, it was a bit of a surprise when Mark landed this for me

A bit out of season, but hey, who's complaining!

The next day found me heading Abbotsbury way again, I prefer fishing there weekdays, avoiding the weekend muppetfest if i possibly can. Conditions were bright, light winds and warm, not what I had hoped for, but at least we were out, a short(!) walk along the beach, cursing shingle, heavy fishing tackle and unseasonable warmth found the three of us suitably far away from other people, and the same crab/squid/black lug baits went winging there way out to sea. It was a bit of an anti climax as the conditions allowed all of the whiting on the planet to take station in front of us, along with a steady stream of pout and doggies. So we gave it best about midnight, still can't win 'em all!
Cool sunset though

About time you out and fishing again.....sounds like you had an a couple of good session.....the Hound reminds me........Where was Max?

Had a couple of sessions myself at Chesil over the past few weeks, nothing to brag about but at least I managed one of my target fish.

I've been quite a bit, just no time to post anything (not going to give the good marks away!!)

As to the smelly hound, two 10 hour plus sessions one after the other results in him doing this:-

Given half a chance, he would stay like that all day!
