 another first, mullet at stoke gabriel well after getting my first ever dace yesterday, i have been and bagged another first today all last week was talking to dave ( mullet mad) about getting my first ever mullet and so this morning i went off and met him at stoke gabriel this is a very pretty place and wierd in that you are fishing into a saltwater lake,its £2.80 to park all day and there is a ( very expensive) cafe and toilets there  useing all the same match gear i was useing yesterday you fish off the dam wall back into lake  the wind was steady and comeing down off the water makeing it feel decidedly cold but dave was confident and so mushed up bread and bacon went in as groundbait soon we were both catching crabs   so shortened the hooklengththere were 1000.s of fry fish about stripping baits but eventually dave managed a tiddler, Hoorah there are fish there and then at last my float went down and YES My first ever mullet  and what a clonker   but i was happy , and 1 1/2 points as well we fished on untill 2 and dave managed another 2 small mullet and a schoolie on bread, also crab on bread i managed 2 more includeing best of day at 3/4lb,  andd if thats how well a fish that size fights a 3lber must be awsome thanks dave for all the advise etc, well chuffed, got a feeling i will be back( or go to your other venue next week  ) dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives     |

| Re: another first, mullet at stoke gabriel yes the other venue could be worth a go next week.. i think it fishes better on the spring tides but more than willing to take you out and get you some more points!! glad you enjoyed it! __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think! |

| Re: another first, mullet at stoke gabriel it is an interesting place! that wall i was stood on.....dunno when dave took that picture! is usually lined with hundreds of kids....all the way along the wall catching crabs i have never seen so many crabs anywhere else other than this place! __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think! |

| Re: another first, mullet at stoke gabriel yep all sea.......the tide comes over that wall you can see in the picture......that wall is covered by 5 or 6ft on a big tide! which is quite impressive if you had seen how low the tide went yesterday!!! there is big mullet in the lake however as dave found out yesterday there is alot of small stuff to fight through first. but to be honest that is why i took him there... you cant really fail to catch a mullet!! next target will be the golden greys dave i am off work next weds and thursday.. if you want a go at them let me know  __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think! |
