| abbotsbury 21/8/08 [IMG]  [/IMG]oops , must resize piccys  fished last night between 7pm and 10am s'morning as you can see from the above piccy things had calmed down nicely i started by feathering some fresh mackers for bait which weren't too difficult plus a bonus reward of a scad for the specie hunt, don't think weve got one of they yet. [IMG]  [/IMG] [/IMG]high tide was for 22.30ish, and i was all keyed up for a fish filled session after dark. baits- macky/blk lug/squid/live pout. rigs -pulley pennel/ 3 hooks flapping/ up n over. trouble was the fish had other ideas, plagued by lil' pout all night with no sign of anything better, i got about an hours kip and was woken at 2am by heavy rain which lasted 1/2 hour or so dureing which i skulked in my bivvy resigned to the fact that not much was gonna happen fish wise. by dawn i was just going to have a chuck about for some fresh mackerel to take home but that was when the token doggie made an appearence which encouraged me to fish on [IMG]  [/IMG]i had no probs getting my mackerel for the table , in fact they were boiling on the surf line at 7am[IMG]  [/IMG]the next wave threw a handful of 4 inch mackerel on the beach. its funny how a few fish soon cheers you up even if its mackerel, the bites on the bottom rigs had dryed right up so with renewed confidence i set up a slideing float hopeing for a gar. 3rd cast = [IMG]  [/IMG] , woo hoo, at last i got summat right fished on till 10am with nothing else doing , 15 hours , but it wern't too bad in the end, i guess nothing bar the pout liked the ebb tide through darkness. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time.     |

Well done on the Scad too & better luck next time with the codling. Looks like theres a few about again this year.
