Isle of Wight 4-18 August.

Ah well here goes with a summary of the sessions and what was (not caught). Sorry no piccys.

1. Quick Mullet fish at low tide, late afternoon St Helens. Caught nothing but ironed out a few creases (mainly using the wrong float etc.).

2. Quick bass spin, evening mid flood tide St Helens. Nope , nothing again.

3. Mullet fish, bembridge harbour behind the cafe. Dead low to flooding, very very windy. Found the back eddy. 1 Mullet about 2-2.5 LB .

4. Quick Bass spin at dead low tide hanover. Again awkward wind. Spent FAR too long faffing and really do need to get some more red gills and sort my technique out. Nowt.

5. On the spur of the moment St Helens , rising mid tide, early evening. Mackerel and squid bait. Mostly a complete waste of time but did get a few creases ironed out of the beach fishing technique.

6. Low tide gurnard. Howling wind ended up fishing the luck for mullet. Some VERY small fish around but failed to catch.

7. Last trip. Flooding tide to 23:00, Bembridge Lifeboat pier. BEAUTIFUL calm night with a full moon, the view was so special I nearly forgot I was there to fish. 3 small wrasse, 2 small pollack one puting and a very very large smile.

Overall I was disorganised and did not get bait sorted at all. On the up side I caught another mullet and a few fish on the pier. Lacked confidence in all but one session. Need to be more defined in what when and where and a little less silly spur of the moment stuff. Still beat the hell out of the day job, fish or no fish.

Congratulations on what you did catch and glad you enjoyed your holiday.
Try not to plan trips too hard, or fishing will end up like work.
But taking flattie rigs when hound fishing is a no no .
