| Lancing Beach - 6th August 08 Fished Lancing beach this afternoon with a friend, we both used lugworm and mackerel fillets. When we got down the beach the sea was clear but there was a strong swell running and stringy weed floating about on the surface. First few casts resulted in some very small bass for me, my friend had 3 small bream, the weed was becoming a pain but we carried on in the hope it cleared. After a while I had my first decent bite and reeled in my first tub gurnard of the year .... pretty little thing of 29cm ..... more species points   After returning him back to the sea, cast back out and within 2 minutes I had another good bite and another Gurnard, this time 1cm smaller at 28cm. A few more small bass later and I had my third Gurnard of the session this time 29cm again. Just as we were packing up I had another one , this time of 27cm. Although nothing to shout about this is the most Gurnards i've ever had in 1 session whilst fishing on a beach. Ended up with 7 schoolies and 4 Gurnards. My friend had 6 schoolies and 4 black bream.     |
