Portland end of Chesil

Well I'm now officially in holiday mode for the week, which means I have actually blagged a full day pass for Friday from S.W.M.B.O./the F.P.O.

Initial thoughts are that I might give the Adelaide wreck a go in the hope of my first Trigger. Thing is I think I may be a touch early for that. Has anyone heard of any Triggers coming out anywhere? What baits will they take? I presume a 2 'ook flapper or a wishbone rig will do the biz??

Otherwise, it'll be a trip to the North Devon coast hunting them thar hounds.

Ho hum, decisions, decision. It's a hard life.

Re: Portland end of Chesil

go for it rich,

forcast it good with n/w winds following a few calm days , high tide for midday or midnight.
should be good even if the trigs don't play.(they won't after dark).

i'm working thurs night in salisbury fer a few hours might tyr to blag a pass n twist a few arms so's i kin fish midnight through t fri middayish
if thurs tides are cr*p round solent/bournemouth.

Re: Portland end of Chesil

A trigger paddled its way out of Exmouth docks whilst I was there last week.
It didn't look in a good way, someone who walked past said it had been chucked off one of the boats.
Never seen a trigger before, but it was deep and narrow, just like a flattie isn't, the dorsal fin was small and wagged sorrowfully as it limped past.

Good luck.

Re: Portland end of Chesil

Sounds like a plan to me then Gord. Just re-read your thread from last year... 50lb snoods huh? Better go make some rigs up then.

I'm not going to set off at stupid O'clock (I'm on holiday for gauds sake!) but hopefully should be up there for about 10am ish. (Mind you, ask Ping about the ish part... It's been know to mean all sorts)

I'll pm my mobile just in case.

50lb snood is just s,o,p for me on pully rigs as i night fish mostly ,i'm less worried about the thick line spooking fish & it helps with spider crab snip offs, + the chance of a bigg toothy critter on ches' but i've an alt' plan to maybe help with them.

30lb amnesia should be ok, but make sure your not useing fine wire 'match' hooks , trigs often chomp through them .
i think i was useing size 1's def' vikings.

still undecided , fin work at 8pm might hit ches' for midnight -1am if i can sort bait,
take wellies to padle through the corner of the fleet if you get there at high water , landing craft mark on left , adelaide on right i'll pm my mobile give us a bell when you get there i'll let ye know where i b .
