Unhappy ESSA open weekend( or running in the new ping mobile)

Last weekend was the big money open weekend for the club, and with open limits of where to fish betwwen 9pm fri and 5pm sun , so just in time(thur pm) managed to get a new tackle waggon ( or "the flying turd" as already nicknamed[ its not brown its a colour called Persia ])

it was game on

Friday
Fri night saw me armed with shed loads of bait meeting up with paul and karen at Seaton

weather men again got it wrong, conditions were bad, and the weed worse, sorry to say i gave it an hour and the lure of the pub won, as knew had more fishing on weekend, amazingly karen and paul fished on and glad to see in his thread he got a bass for his efforts

Saturday

after work met up with Si at 4.30 and we were off, but where to go to get a mixed bag
we were undecided between brixham breakwater and charmouth in the end decided charmouth was the place,

got there 6pm and set up
first cast proved our fears WEED WEED WEED and then the rain
did get a nice double rainbow though

but it was definately move time
infact we decided sod it and we were going to pub, contacted baggie before he wasted a trip over

on way back for some reason decided to avoid pub and at least go look at the breakwater so somehow we managed charmouth to brixham ( west doerset to deepest darkest south hams) in under an hour
conditions couldnt be anymore different( why didnt we go there first)

so we quickly headed on down to try for anything
stopping 1/2 way to try for makkie

now the weather men who now live and reside in exeter( but never do predictions any close than cardiff on national map)said that the rain from the morning would clear leaving a pleasent dry eve( god i wish they would just look out of the window sometimes)

thus si left his waterproof trousers in the motor, before we then walked the rest of the 3/4 mile to end of the breakwater, where apon it started raining and pretty much didnt stop all eve

well we fished hard, but all i scratched out were 2 pitifull pout and a new first for me

a scallop

we gave it till midnight but that was it, it was no longer fun and Si was soaked, threw ass in bed at 2

Sunday

planned to fish after work so headed down front , but a big low tide and more rain, i just couldnt be assed, i knew others had wrangeled out dogs etc, so i just paid my dues at clubhouse and weighed in the 2 pout

eventual winner i find out was our clubs token welshman, taffy who along with Stu had fished constantly from sat morning from chesil cove all along coast back, massive effort well done mate

-----------------------
sun eve
and was my turn to drive again after caging lifts last week
so met up with rich and we went to seaton outside of comp now so a more pleasure session
good look arround the harbour for possible mullet spots than off to see what could get
the beach was packed with tinsellers

but we managed to set up in fave spot

most of my crab were now softies but i still had rag and lug

well apart from 1 knock my rods didnt move

baggie did manage 1 nice fish though in yet another bass to his years tally

well done mate, think you have seriously cracked this bassing
left in time for the obligitory kebab

a long weekend again

in conclusion

The flying turd got a really good run out but weekend was 270 miles,3 venues, 4 sessions of fishing, £30 fuel, £40 bait all that for 2 tiny pout is it worth it

why cant they make dynamite legal

next time as ever

dave

Unlucky Dave
It looked difficult weather out of my window too.
Those mileage figures look like mine for a normal session.
Nice Bass though Rich.

Re: ESSA open weekend( or running in the new ping mobile)

Good effort make, you deserved more after all that driving. Sunday was a little disappointing. I had the Bass fairly early on, so hopes were high, but apart from 3/4 good bites, there was nothing else doing. In fact the Bass and two VERY small mackerel for the old boy stood next to us were the only fish I saw all evening. Ah well, next time.

Oh and BTW, if that's the general colour of Persia, I think they'll be wanting to sort their plumbing out fairly sharpish...
