charmouth.

me & ashley met up with ping' last night for a wee fish .
all set up on the beach by 8pm with the tide flooding for h/w about 10pm.
winds were easterly and light sea was flat & abit coloured.

[IMG][/IMG]

first blood went to ashley with a solitary mackerel on a 1/2 oz wedge lure .

[IMG][/IMG]
again , he won't let me live that down for a while

dave followed this with a snotty bootlace eel then a schoolie
as darkness fell at which point it all went a little hectic with a suicidal poput frenzy, double n triple shots mostly.
while my back was turned sorting ashleys kit for him dave struck a good knock on my ray rod & brought in a plate sized smalleyed ray.

the pout fest continued unabated but i did manage to account for a simalar sized ray myself a little later.

[IMG][/IMG]

between us we had some crab baits going for a smoothie but no joy there,
as the tide dropped even the pout bites dried up and so we all quit about 2am.

A good night out in great company , can't wish for much else (exept possibly bigger fish.

Re: charmouth.

Nice !!
Sounds like you were kept busy.
am hoping to get some flat ones myself soon.
Not too bothered about the size of the first , catch one, then try to beat it, there's a plan

Re: charmouth.

was a really nice eve, if not a bit of a grueller at one point to get through the pout, even had double shot of them on a penneled crab bait

sorry to grab your tackle mate , but you did say go on you take it

funny i just couldnt find the ray but hey theres always next time, and ashleys casting is def getting better,or i was standing on the right side of him as i noticed he did go over you a couple of times ( now i know why to tried to move )

catch up again soon

Re: charmouth.

Hi Guys,

I am hoping to fish charmouth beach for the very first time on fri or sat nite, hoping for a ray or bass - although by the sound of it the pout might make that difficult!! How far along the beach do you normally fish, what is the best bait for the rays- sandeel? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin

we fished way way left over the landslip, but you can fish right from the prom bit,
more chance of ray off of the prom on right or where we were ,
if staying late( and you will need too to get away from all the tourists) then make sure park in bottom carpark ( 60p an hour up till 9 pm)as others shut at 9
good luck
