Sole session, brambles IOW, 4/6/08

Hi all. My friday night plans were dashed, so the only option was to get out in the questionable weather and see if the run of sole was going to continue.
The robster had some worms so i didnt have any choice really heh heh.
On arrival at brambles, the water was a nice coffee colour and we were reasonably sheltered from the moderate easterly wind so even the threat of rain didn't dampen our spirits too much.
We met another fishing chum nick down there and when we turned up he had already had two small plaice and the story of a "sole that got away" so we were right up for it!
On dusk the crabs were out in force, snipping snoods and robbing baits at a breakneck speed, only around an hour before high did i get my first small sole of around 10oz (sorry about the pic, the boys were busy)

Then robster had one around 10 or 11oz....

Trying to avoid the relentless crab munching, i casted far down the beach and got two on the trot, both only small but a little bigger than my first....

The crabs went mental again and on packing up, rob reeled in the biggest of the night, a sole of around a pound..

We really were lucky to have caught anything really due to the crab hassle. Never known it like this so late in the year....
