Smile Seaton Sun 29/6/8

well as posted a few of us went of to Seaton on sunday night to try and find those smuts after last weekend

was a pleasent eve, but windy enough come the end for extra layer/windproof
got there just after 8.15 and soon the four of us were set up on the busy beach
looking east kevin( Ratman) at repose on this busy beach awaiting a bite

Tj and rich by the water looking west to one of the barges removeing napoli detritus still

things were quiet, I managed a small mackeral, which i named bait and let swim ( till the voracious crabs got him)in the gutter with a 4/0 piercing

tide turned at 9.40 and eventually darkness fell
1 hour after tide turn and Tj was first in

and a nice smoothy of aprox 2 lb and another smoothound smile

both kev and myself missed bites then it was riches turn

big hand and fish, small head type pic

tj managed another 2lber then whist rich was casting his other rod nearly came of stand so i grabbed and played his fish in( as he sorted out his birdie )
best fish of night

Tj managed the last fish as we packed up at 12.30am as work beconned for some, and didnt feel like was going to pick up either

unfortunately kevin and myself blanked, but next time as ever

not the fastest night but target fish found, even if only small one

now to find out how rob and john and martin got on

dave

Re: Seaton Sun 29/6/8

It was a good night all in all, if a little later home than planned .

Good to meet Kev. Sorry I wasn't more social mate, but you don't really want to be too far from your rods when the hounds start to feed. Next time I'll sort it out.

A few fish, mostly for TJ again. The guys "hot for hounds" at the moment. Well done mate. Top fishing, even with the assistance of a groyne!!!

When Ping says he blanked I don't agree. Okay so his fish was on my rod, but he saw the bite, took the rod to stop it coming off the stand and played the fish in whilst I was busy putting a massive birds nest in my other reel down at the waters edge. So come on forumites, a blank for Dave or not...???? Personally, I don't think so.

<Geordie accent> You decide.

Re: Seaton Sun 29/6/8

Well done Baggie and TJ for getting your target fish
Even though it was Baggies rod, Dave played and landed it, so I would say it's Dave's.

Re: Seaton Sun 29/6/8

I would say NOT a blank for Dave.
My basis for this being....
lots of people can't cast very well, myself included, so anywhere in the wet stuff will do. Who puts it there is immaterial. The hard part has to be what comes after. Naturaly I'm discounting everything before the actual lobbing out process, rigs & bait as I'm sure that would be evened out by Dave letting Rich have first choice of peg.

Choice of peg isn't really a issue where we fish. The beach is massive and generally empty. We do however have a system. Dave always fishes on my left for some reason. Don't ask me why, it's just the way it is. Actually, now I come to think about it, might it be that Dave doesn't trust my knots and anywhere on my left is the safest place to stand???
