Christchurch Ledge - 7th June

Had a call from Richard on Friday evening to ask if I would like to go out on the boat on Saturday, I had to stop and tinks for about a second or two before jumping at the chance to get out again.

Met at the Poole and get the boat set up and about 09.30 we set off for Bournemouth Pier, the Marines were out having a play around Brown sea Island so it was a bit lumpy with all the wake from their ribs darting about, once we passed the chain ferry at Sandbanks it was time to open the thottle and head along the shoreline.
We got to our mark a little after 10.15 to do a spot of flattie bashing, but had no luck, but it did seem strange the we caught a couple of bream on a sandy bottom??

We then headed for the Ledge for a bit of feathering for macci to use as live bait on a float, after 3-4 drifts we decided that the tide was racing through a bit too fast as there were nets around and we did not fancy getting hooked up in one of them, so we dropped anchor and carried on feathering for a while, with not much luck (I put the lack of fish down to the fact that I was not groundbaiting for a change).

Change of tack-tick, go for Bass with a side of macci planted on the bottom, this brought up half a dozen or so doggies and a Bass for Richard of about 8lb as the tide turned it got a bit lumpy so we decided to call it a day as the fish were not playing.

Outcome:-

Nice sunny day with a flat calm sea
Fish - Me -1 garfish aprox 12 macci and 4 doggies, Richard - 1 garfish, 2 bream, 1 bass, 4 doggies

All rounded off with a tour and a pint at the RNLI headquaters in Poole
