| Report Wrecking 31/5/08 Met up with the others at 0430 cast off and away we went armed with a forecast from heaven and high hopes. The game plan was to fish the wrecks 30 to forty miles south of Portsmouth so we had a couple of hours steam ahead of us. Crew, Ray, Lenny, Louis, Steve the Bass and myself after half an hour the banter stopped and we settled down Steve went to sleep, Lenny dozed, Louis was busy in his tackle box leaving Ray and I to chat in the wheelhouse. To say conditions were ideal is an understatment, a bit of mist, flat sea, sun rising, it had all the signs of coming good. ![]() Rays face lit up with a couple of miles to to our first target, arrived to find this being towed across our chosen bit of sea. ![]() Safty being paramount we waited until it was clear, tackle, 12lb class rod, flying collar traces to shads, jellies, or anything that took your fancy I opted for a pirk. The first drift everyone had takes with Len and I boating these two. ![]() The bass went 9lbs (it should have been mine) the next few drifts produced pollock as tide died away so did the fish Ray moved to another wreck but the fish didn't want to play, only giving one pollock every three or four drifts, same story for the next three. It was time for a move, reef this time. Steve the bass was in first with another bass around 10lbs, as he went to put in he fish box it flipped went over the side and swam away. Banter was cutting. He came back fighting with this codling. ![]() Then one for me. ![]() Louis was having a nightmare until his first ever cod, ![]() not big but still a cod. Steve again ![]() Louis went on to show us all how it's done catching another four cod. ![]() The day was over, time for a pint, shower and aftersun lotion. __________________ Poor prep= Pathetic Performance |
