| breakfast bash for bass at budliegh this was always going to be a stupid one as working nights this week and i am cr** at sleeping in daytime )but we decided for some reason to try budliegh for a few hours this morning in searcch yet again for the elusive bass ![]() whilst i was at work got a txt from the baggie one at 3.43am stating "F*** me its early" and i have to admit he wasnt wrong i finished work as soon as could and was down at budliegh for 5am( which is still stupidly early) found rich waist deep in water spinning desperately for a bass over the ottermouth sorry gloomy pic coming over he uttered the awfull words, "theres a bit of weed about mate!!!" and he wasnt to be proved wrong ![]() well i decided to cheer him up so presented breakfast ![]() ![]() cant beat a good bacon and sausage bap at 5 in morning ![]() after that the crab and worm baits went out weed was a nightmare, it was all that lettucey type stuff and broken kelp that just dragged your rods over and in the sun rose for us so we could see better for blanking so we tried the pool behind the river mouth that was worse for weed big time ![]() so packed up and moved to try main beach still more weed then at 7.30 tiredness kicked in big time and i had to head back to find me pit leaving rich having a few more casts, and as i havnt heard from him i guess nothing else happened thats now 3 blanks in a row to me and with no fishing for me till next wed night ( when were going to try rodney bay if weeds cleared enough) i think i'll be needing theropy or rehab soonalways nice to get out and try though next time as ever ![]() dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives |

| Re: breakfast bash for bass at budliegh The alarm went off at 3:10am this morning, and by 4am I was standing in the surf wondering why I'd bothered. I took roughly 2 casts before I realised it wasn't going to happen. I spent more time clearing the weed from the plugs than I did actually fishing. Nearly lost £10 worth of popper as well at one stage, how it pulled out of the snag I'll never know. No fish, but a top breakfast (Cheers mate ) and sun rise at Budleigh is always special, so not too bad a trip all in all. Just wish you could see the sun rise without having to get up in the middle of the night! ![]() __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen. Check. Bait…… BAIT!
