Re: bass in the surf well be careful steve because there will be a heavy sea running but yes buy yourself some peeler crab razor fish clams lug worm (whichever you can get hold of and chuck some of that out on the bottom in the surf and see what happens your in a better area than me because you have budliegh (where they catch big bass often anyway) __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think!

Re: bass in the surf Ill buy it bit of that yes if i can - i know the tide is rough but we have a party of nine - me and my freinds so if any1 goes in the rest will help. I cant miss out though since the predictions are there is a macky shoal going right through the area. __________________ Steve "Dark Side" Mingo - May The Scopex Be With You

Re: bass in the surf i think you maybe a bit late for the macky myself and with this weather the macky tend to move out into deeper water because they know mr bass is hunting through the surf for any goodies that get washed up! so any shellfish worm or crab usually works well for them be patient though there not going to bite as soon as you get there it may take some time __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think!

Re: bass in the surf steve mackerel dont like turbulent conditions so i agree the shoal will move out into safer deep water. the bass know that any other inter-tidal food such as worms, crabs and shellfish cannot do this and they get ripped outta the sand and rocks by the rough seas. so you need to target the bass with baits they expect to find - peeler crab, lug, rag but use big baits as the baits get washed out quicker and the water is usually a lot more coloured. hope this helps
