Talking squirelling arround for 2 new PB's

Hi all

firstly a sort of apology
its not like me to keep anything back but i have promised to be

secret squirell
about where we fished last night and so i shall

just to say had a shout that the club were going to do a special "fish in " at a very special spot hoping for huss and wrasse and we werent to be dissapointed

unfortunately rich had to drop out during the day, really gutted for you mate, but theres a whisper we may go again

arriving with simon we met the grand poobar that is esaa at the predetermined bus stop and then followed in convoy to the parking spot
then a good 5/10 minute march ( looked like adult follow my leader with tackle boxes included ) over fields and tracks and then down an ickle path, then confronted by a cliff side( anyone who knows me knows i'm no rock hopper penguin) down i slithered ( more like humpty dumpty really ) and then over the rocks etc to the mark

and what a mark, it was like a lunar/quarrey lanscape rocks and snags everywhere, what had i let myself in for , I had been told to expect to lose loads of gear here and wasnt told wrong,

after setting up the rods out went the crab baits for the wrasse and rag and makkie for the huss
after an hour of frustrating wrasse missed bites and tackle loss, I connected
and a good fight later( love the way these fish scrap) i have a PB ballan wrasse at my feet at 3lb 5oz

others were also catching wrasse and stu had the specimin of the day at 5lb 2oz nice one mate

I did have another wrasse at about 1lb 8oz as well

as darkness fell it was all out for a huss and after an hour (ish) i at last connected and this beauty came in at 4lb 8oz another PB

Andy next to me had a several nice huss up to 7lb and shauna had her first hus of 3lb as well
meanwhile (Si)esaa was doing the great job of keeping all the dogfish at his end of the beach and giving us a chance

adding this photo of a dog that fell off hook just as about to land, here it is in rockpool, showing off its camoflage perfectly

( i know its a pic of a dog but liked this pic)

I managed to lose a couple of fish in the rocks but it was still a fantastic night

finished till 11pm and then slogged back to cars( funny hill didnt seem so bad in dark with less lead in tackle box)

I lost loads ( but for once didnt mind as was expected and geared for it) but 2pbs i was more than chuffed( got home 12.30ish and none to chuffed with 5.30 alarm tho )

think most there last night caught with huss and wrasse being the main prize

massive thanks to si and andy for having sorted this and if it ever comes up again put my name down now

dave

Good going there Dave, two PB's in one night, makes the hike and the tackle loss seem worth it.
