| Southbourne 5/4/8 Reasonable weather forecast sent myself & Kirikomi off to Southbourne again to hide from the Northerly wind. Left far too early and ended up having the evening meal in the pub at 15:00. Down to the beach for 16:00 low water to see how far the sea goes out on a spring tide. 4 foot . A slight difference from the 40 foot on the Bristol Channel, but then again... I would rather go see the Welsh than the French Didn't expect to catch anything during daylight and duly didn't, baits came back untouched. A few other anglers turned up at dusk & so did the fish. Having a chat, they were hoping for rays or bass & were glad to hear that there were no crabs (apparently there are loads of hook munching spiders off of Studland). We managed half a dozen small pout & a Yting, anglers next door also had a small plaice. All fish taken on worm. Squid, frozen eel, mackerel untouched. An old boy walking the beach said the water exploded with fish a few groynes further towards Bournemouth & asked if they were bass or if the mackerel were in, I couldn't comment. Fishing may not be prolific down there but it's close-ish for me & comfortable. Happy everyone __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |
