Angry smoothly does a smashing session at seaton

last night was the wed comp again
and after a swift getawy in richs' new tackle wagon it was off to seaton

I had had a trying day with son and stuff at but despite this for some reason I had real high hopes of some summer species tonight as fishing first hour in the light always feels good

as twilight fell i was still hopefull

and then disaster struck
a gentle lob out on my right hand rod ( other rod was out long) and SNAP

top section went on rod

i was gutted that was just topping off my day nicely

anyway nothing i could do apart from open a beer or 3, so cobbled up a 3 hook rig for other rod and carried on
rich meanwhile was into the 20cm pout for points, me i was still blanking
then stu noticed a bite on my rod and in came this little beauty

a baby starry smoothound for species hunt points but too small for the comp
but at least renews hope thet the summer species are on way

come the weigh in 7 of the 11 weighed in
fishing had been tough and it was a brace of dogs to mark brennan that won
I blanked and rich managed 29% for his 2 best pout, top of table close now

thanks also to rich for the kebab mate very neccessary, and can i borrow your greys on weekend

now hunting online for new rod(s)

dave

Oh dear, sorry about your rod, can imagine how peed off you must be.

Cute little hound there, did you keep it for your garden pond?

Re: smoothly does a smashing session at seaton

It was going to be one of those night from the moment we set off to be honest. I actually got to the beach with one of my reels still needing line and we were fishing the tide right down... Not a good sign.

And so it proved to be, Dave had his rod calamity early on and that kind of set the tone for the whole night. I birdy'd my reels like a good 'un and the fish just didn't want to play. Best bit by far was the kebab at the weigh in. A pair of dogs won it (By quite some margin) which just about says it all really.

Mind you, even with his one rod and his make-shift 3 hook rig Dave still managed to land the fish of the night to further spank my backside in the hunt. It's getting embarassing now mate.

Surely next month must show some fish??? Shouldn't it??

Not a problem re: the Orion mate. No gentle lobs though okay?
