slimey session monmouth beach last night

well i had plans for a big session up the channel last night after some good reports of thornies on other forums( i know spying arrouind for info), and had had a trying day with son so really needed to get out

but
1: mrs p didnt get home till after 7 and didnt fancy fishing a new mark blind in the dark
2: realised a strong westerly would be straight up channel and more than unpleasant

so where to go

well last time I was at charmouth I met a local fishing and I got some good info on monmouth beach at Lyme, (a place i have donated tackle too far to many times as is really really snaggy), and told of a clean area to fish which was aparantly produceing

so decided this may be worth a crack as know get good huss and conger there, both needed for hunt as well, and thought may have some shelter( that part was wrong)

and so it was last night I found myself fishing into the national collection of 3 bearded rockling, any bait( rag, squid, sandeel macky) any hook size( 1/0, 2/0,3/0 even 4/0) any distance, i must have caught about 20 of the slimey buggers

but good news was that i never lost any gear so was in the right spot gave up about 11.30 when tripod bown over as wind really picked up again and was peed of with rockling by then( which i definately like catching less than doggies)

lets just hope I can catch one of these slimey buggers tonight in the comp

dave

Hi Pingu, you were not wrong about avoiding the Channel. It was so bad that I couldn't even bring my self to dig bait there. I turned up at low water with plans of a pound of lug but decded "no way"!
Returned there today and managed 3/4 of a pound of lug in an hour, decided that was enough and promptly p####d off home.
