Re: goin chesil 8th april

dont need dostance cast as fairy deep water
try for plaice at this time of year
probably need 5oz grippers as fair tide run
beware any southerly wind as you are totally exposed as is nothing more than a shingle bar
and for gods sake dont travel heavy as that shingles a bugger to walk over and its a fair hike to the teeth( or so i'm told as not been brave/fit enough to try yet)
sure others will give better info soon

Re: goin chesil 8th april

Hi mate, I fished the same mark last year and I'd say its about half a mile from the car park, may be a little further.
As pingu has already said travel light as possible as its not the distance but the terrain that will get you!

When you cross the wooden walkway from the car park to the beach dont walk to the top of the shingle bank but turn left and walk towards DT staying close to the hedge/trees as the ground is much more managable here.

From memory when you get to some derelict buildings you then proceed to the top of the bank for the remainder of the journey and its not far from there.

Good luck!

Re: goin chesil 8th april

mullet 2k'
for dragons teeth (its at abbotsbury)
south of the village on the coast road to westbay/bridport there's a tight right hand bend b4 you climb the big hill towards swyre.
on this bend is a side road , sign posted sub tropical gardens /beach .
take this road , there's an entrance to a large gravel carpark on your left b4 you get to the shingle beach.
gather your kit , go left along the back of the shingle beach as described above.
