Seaton 26/03

Hi all,

Well, finally decided the weather was good enough now for me to venture out for a session last night. (Fair weather anglers )

Was going to fish at Branscombe but decided the £4+ I saved on car parking could be spent on other things so headed down to my local beach.

Arrived at about 7pm with high tide at about 9pm. Fished 2 rods, one with a two hook scratching rig with size 1's holding ragworm and the other with a pulley pennel with a sandeel in squid jacket!! Found that I had run out of tip sticks, so could only really see the rod with the big bait on it. Not surprisingly I pulled in the small baits to find pin whiting on almost every retrieve. Most made it back alive, although one had succumbed to the crabs which had made a right mess of it.

Big bait produced a couple of decent sized dogfish, although I can take them or leave them now really. Then I had a reasonable size pout on the scratching rod.

As the tide turned, the bites dropped away, and the crabs came out in numbers, but the clear crisp evening with shooting stars a plenty more than made up for it. Packed up at about 11pm.

Think I'll give it another go soon, on a low tide, as other beaches (Sidmouth) near here fish well at that time.

Regards, Darren
