another assault on charmouth

Last night being wednesdaywas fishing night so had another go for ray (or anything) at charmouth as seemed to be fishing just marginally better than our local beaches at moment

Rich was stuck in as is out playing with his small balls today in a forest somewhere
so it was just Si from Club and myself

after hearing / getting some good reports( yes DD I know there was a very big silver fish caught there last week) and info recently we headed left over the river and past the HUGE landslip

made it over that unscatched but went flying over a rock and shinned myself a good'un on the ""clean"" ground after what a muppet


set up where we think was the waterfall( bit tricky in dark to tell) and cast out
almost straight away Si s rod starts giving a doggie style knock, and in comes this wee ray caught on ragworm
( I know you'll read this Si so you can have a picture up )



Game on we thought
soon after Si had a dog and another dog then all went quiet
tooo quiet
infact far too quiet
yep even quieter than that

Si managed 1 more small dog ( which we didnt even know was on till came in) and I blanked with style
on way back passed some others who had had a dog and also a small ray, so the small ray are starting to show here now at least

another pleasent night
may go back sat night as later tide and fish all way up yet

dave.. the guy that had it runs the tackle shop in torquay..

he is the jammiest guy alive it was him i went to chesil with back in november.. we got stopped doing 84mph.. the copper said.. i see you may miss the tide.. go on your way dont let me catch u speeding again!!!

this is his kind of luck lol.. but i can tell you he puts in alot of hours in the charmouth area.. and being as its nearer to you than me! this is why im passing the info on... he fishes only on southwesterlys up there and when there is a good bit of surf around from what i can make out... he also uses flattie rods and whole mackerel as bait.. so cant be casting that far!! the only thing i dont know is what beach he actually fishes.. but i will do my best to find out for you ;)

he's had several 8lb+ for that area this year!
