| Plaice fest ,Eastney Not been out for a while due to lack of interest due to lack of fish,but [/i][/i]today was the day. After a few days of calm seas and bright sunshine forcast i was sure that this Sea Angler recomended mark would produce the usual bags of early spring Plaice  Maghouse picked me up at 0530 and a short while later we were on the beach . As the sun started to rise i could almost smell the Plaice.  It was a lovely morning clear and bright if not a little cold. First cast and Rob pulled in a small fluke,not a bad start i thought ,bring on the Plaice. Other anglers began to turn up ,conditions were spot on apart from the water still being a little coloured,maybe  More anglers turned up ,there must have been six to my left and another 8 to my right. Five hours later ,after belting rag out plain ,tipped with slipper,tipped with squid and plopping it short we d both had enough. Not even a bight between us,nor had we seen any other fish caught These rods dont move  Oh well i m sure the Plaice will turn up,i think we just need a long settled spell and some warmer weather (for me not the fish) John __________________ One day i will post a catch report again.     |

| Re: Plaice fest ,Eastney If the stories are true about the trawlers' plaice landings at Pompey fish market (350kg from one 'bottom scraper'), then I'm not surprised they didn't show.  |
