Beesands

The day dawned fresh and clear, but I did'nt, in fact I did'nt dawn till about half nine so I thought "why waste a day off, i'll go to the South Hams and freeze the jewels off on a fishless beach" So I did. The original plan was to go to Hopes Nose, but as I dislike Hopes Nose only marginally less than I dislike Berry Head, I thought Beesands would be a pleasant change, plus the fact that it takes about the same amount of time for me to get to Beesands as it does to get through Kingskerswell.
I was deeply pleased to find the beach deserted, as I like plenty of room to fluff casts etc and set up on the far left hand end

Chucked out a couple of 2 hook rigs, rag and sprat and combinations of the 2, and went for a toddle along the tideline, loads of these around

Now I'm not sure what they are egg cases from, anyone enlighten me? It just looks at first glance like a lot of brains up and down the beach, which is worrying.
Was'nt long before the first fish was on the shingle, a doggy, (naturally) I photographed it for an American friend, who likes to see English species, but I have'nt put the photo here because a: it's a dogfish
and b: I'm wearing a realtree top and look like a privet bush.

Another one followed, again to size 4 sakumas and bits of sprat, then a small Pollack to the worm, then sod all for the rest of the day, so I amused myself throwing stones for the hound to catch (little ones)

Gratuitous dog shot, just for Twiddler.

Weather was windy, with sunny spells and extra wind, think it'd fish better over low and a couple of hours up, though i've had Dab here before in similar conditions.
Tide was small and rubbish.

By the way, has anyone seen this site

http://www.badangling.com/Default.aspx

Very amusing!

Have fun,

Re: Beesands

Nice to hear you got out again, can't beat sitting on an empty beach, watching the world go by and a couple of fish as a bonus.

Thanks for another pic of my gracious Max, he looks lovely as ever.

Aww you spoil sport, would have really love to see you in a real tree top lol

Thanks mate, at least it's not an army of alien brains landing on the planet to look for intelligent life, cos they'd have been a bit annoyed when I was the first human they'd met!
Gonna be a shedload of whelks about later on then
