| stokes bay, 16th / 3 . After passing a couple of anglers at the alverbank (hope they faired better than i did) i fished left of the lifeboat station, from 18.00- 0400. the sea was flat calm and coloured with high tide about 19.00 ish, wind was gusty from the north?. bait- squid/sandeel/mackerel/ rag. rigs- 2 hook flapper/pulley pennel/ flowing trace. from the start up and over high water there were regular bites on the flapper, i was fishing both rods in close to start as i'd just relined them, slowly increaseing distance as the spools bedded in. sml pouting and pin whiteing were the result from the close rod, plus a slug which looked to be a 5 bearded jobbie for a change. the bigger baits that were aimed at ray did no good weather fished close or at distance. as the tide dropped nearly to low water i managed to capture a flattie, which was a surprise, i knew it was gonna be a flounder seeing as it was about midnight. it was a good size but in poor condition as spent after spawning. not much else to tell really, the tide flooded again like it does, and a few knocks relieved the boredom but i could only catch the odd pout /whiteing. gave up at 04.00 when the cold and boredom finally got to me all baitsbar the mackerel were refrozen from the last session , even the rag that i'd forgotten about and flung in thr freezer with the rest, i was surprised that it was still useable, and all fish came to rag or rag cocktails. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |

| Re: stokes bay, 16th / 3 . i never do on as a rule coz it just turns to mush, this lot was done by accident, it was in mickalite and probably farmed which made it tougher. when i saw the paper wrap as it came outa the freezer i was expecting mush, it was soft n manky but just about useable because it was a cold night. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |
