| Southbourne Well another failed trip, Went out with the expectation of early rays, and was very enthusiatic before we left and even took the afternoon off work to prepare. First port of call was Hordle cliffs which when we arrived looked unfishable to be honest with some huge breakers crashing in, next was barton on sea but some of us where not keen on fishing off rocks so we decided as we where nearly there to shot off to southbourne. Winds were not to bad when we arrived and the sea state was much calmer, I put out a pulley pennel as usual with sandeel and on the other a slither of mackerel. End result between 4 of us using pretty much the same tactics was 0 no ray or bass, but I suppose thats what you get for hedging your bets on big fish. Fed up with scratching around for pout and whiting so refused to try and kept on the big baits all night. Did switch to a squid and lug bait but no action. Oh well theres always next time..     |

| Re: Southbourne unlucky mate ,some nice ray being caught in the salcombe estuary at the moment but a bit far for you __________________ obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated .. species hunt team winner 2005 and 2006..with old smoothy.. |
