| Tales of woe from Hayling Fished Hayling on Tuesday night ..... yes I know its cr*p this time of year and why bother fishing there ..... but this was round 2 of Allans Marine League. Fished 2000 - 0000 HW2236 Really cold starlit night, slight NE wind, dead calm sea although the surf did pick up slightly towards the end. Fished here on Sat night as well & blanked so things were not looking promising - Well needless to say I blanked as did 25 of the 31 anglers ![]() Just 7 fish caught all night .... few small rocking, pin whiting & a small flounder. I could cope with that as I was in league with some top anglers who also blanked. The thing I could not cope with was I took a mate along for his first competition, explained all the rules to him, what he would catch or not blah blah blah ..... drew my peg - right in the middle ... bugger - drew his peg straight after - peg 1 - end bleedin' peg and with the tide flow so he would see the fish first ..... and he did ...... 2 whiting ..... wins match overall ..... wins biggest fish overall ..... and has second biggest fish ..... only person to catch 2 fish ..... earns a fist full of cash ... gutted - well and truly ....... needless to say he walked home ! Proves yet again my lucky dip theory ! Looser of Pompey ... __________________ SUPPORT THE RNLI - click : www.rnli.org.uk ... every little helps ! | Re: Tales of woe from Hayling Honestly, this time of year, hayling, and you expect to catch fish, me i'd rather be in painting something, or just sleeping ready for the spring, honestly I ask you fishing in February, getting all that fresh air, and chill out time, how very dare you! ![]() Right gotta go just going off to Eastney. __________________ It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming. ~John Steinbeck |

| Re: Tales of woe from Hayling Unlucky mate. You'll get 'em next time. Still makes me think though... If I stopped fishing for a couple of weeks then started again, wouldn't that make me a beginer again, and therefore due all the beginners luck??? ![]() __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods.
