spent a few hours on the beach last night,in a f3+ east e/se wind,brrrrrrr ,had a few poor cod/pout dogs,a slug and 2 smutt pups...1 starry and 1 common,the common took lug&squid head,not a lot to report really....nice sunset though

a few more pups showing, lets hope mum and dad aren't too far behind.

not to sure about chesil hounds pp,always thought they showed later than the solent(august time)but in the past couple of years the size of hounds have increased on chesil to near double figures(may well have been a double taken last year,not 100%sure tho)
they have shown from weston shore and the quay from as early as march before,but only around the 3-5lb range

Nice little mixed bag though Eddie.
I'm sure I heard somewhere that Divers had reported seeing adult smutts at the Portland end of Chesil right through the winter.
