charmouth last night 9/2/8

well i dont know why but i fancied charmouth last night
club were fishing up the road at cogden but i was at work till 6 so way to late to join in

good strong tide arround 4m @ 8.30pm

belted out of work 6pm and got there in under 10 min and was set up on right hand end of platform by 6.15 pretty good i thought
nice swell but nothing massive

bait to start with was some left over rag from the eype meet still and luckily found something else still in box from that meetas well

also some poor razor , tiny sandeel and peeler all twice frozen, but was best had untill dial a bait arrived(baggie)
up to high it was the more bait you put out the bigger the pout you got

rich arrived about high tide and we moved from platform to beach
with fresher bait( now lug and good ammo sandeel and squid) the hunt was on for either a huss or a very early ray

but the pout kept coming
then at 10,30 witn the tide dropping fast and it getting really quite parky i get a nod on right rod( looks like a doggy) but no
a very sweet and almost transparent smalleyed about 1lb if that is landed and 1 1/2 points,( bait tackle was 2/0pennel and sandeel)

so of cause we fished on till 11.45 for nothing else

a nice night on the beach again , and a suprise(ish as was trying for one) early ray
must be down to the new pingu mascot i got yesterday

dave

Re: charmouth last night 9/2/8

Nice little smalleyed there Dave. Did the Cogden match myself and got an even stranger species for Feb: your fave mate too, a TINY Starry Smoothound!!!!! Also Cod to 4.5lb so a good match really with all but 3 of the 28 members weighing in. And no one got their car robbed!!!! If we had known you and Rich were just up the beach we would have shouted abuse at you both. Painted ray! not heared smallies called that down these parts for years. We;ll done again mate. Si at ESAA
