| chesil 27th jan 2008 after a rather long break from fishing(due to work load ::))and a good weather window me and the gnome decided on a chesil sesh,looking at the weather and taking into account it was the week end we figured abbotsbury/west bex would be shoulder to shoulder,and not willing to pay extortionate parking charges for ferry bridge we decided to head for the cove end of chesil where parking is free ;D ;D. we arrived in plenty of time,and with plenty of fresh lug from wac,after some rig tying and baiting of traces,we sent out three rods at various ranges and settled back to admire yet another wonderful chesil sunset...  with a slight west/south west wind conditions looked favourable for a chance of codling after the recent blows,daylight,as is often the case this time of year,produced nothing,but as darkness fell the pout and poor cod decended upon the baits with a ravenous hunger of the sort that starts to irritate you,wasting good bait on bait robbers can in the end become frustrating to say the least,tried a live bait rig(6/0 with a size 6 tied to bend of 6/0 baited with a sliver of squid)maybe a chance of conger but alas no takers,the pout/poor cod were soon followed by lsd's,7 in all,1 solitary whiting and this little beauty.........  a plump 3lb2oz codling with one lost in the surf due to my mis-judgement of the wave,a fine start to 2008 methinks ;D ;D ;D __________________ species 07/codling/whiting/pollack/lsd/pout/ Last edited by pingu; 01-28-2008 at 11:14 AM.
