Pompey Harbour this afty.

Sat at home bored today so decided to nip out and have a couple of hours at the back of work in the harbour.
Arrived about an hour before high and already the tide was up on the bank.
I wasnt expecting much since the disapearance of the Flounders a few years back but it was nice to be out even if the wind was howling straight in my face.
After taking Alex for a pee for the 16th time i finally cast out,a two hook flapper with rag in dead close and three hooks clipped down belted out.

As is common in the harbour its a shallow mark with a small bank dropping onto flattish mud banks and weed,at high water theres only about 6ft of water but i love fishing these shallow tidal marks as you never know what they can throw up.

Anyway back to the fishing an hour and a half went by with not a sniff ,i was just thinking i was going to have my first blank of 08 when the in close rod gave a rattle.
I wound in a shoal Bass and the blank was saved
Half an hour later and the distance rod gave a slight rattle,i waited a while and decided to pack up.
In came the distance rod with a great clump of weed and a 2.5lb Bass on the bottom hook
I was dead chuffed (jammy git) no Flounders but i d rather have Bass anyday

congrats...all these harbours and quays sound great to fish

but hartlepool marina has all sorts of crap on the bottom...so much of a tackle graveyard i dont even bother!

id take 2 bass over a flounder anyday
