| Hunting for Species 5.1.8 Me and Paul decided to start off our hunt for the species yesterday, initially picked a spot along from Meon Shore, think it was called Monk's Hill, fished it for a couple of hours, started off good with a few bites and then it died off completely, so in fear of starting the year with a blank, we made the decision to up sticks and make our way back to my old favourite, Town Quay in Southampton, so we might at least tick of one or two of the species - i wonder which ones! Well surprise surprise we managed a whiting  And then we managed a pouting - which neither of us was prepared to hold for the camera out of embarrassment at the size  But we did then get a nice surprise all be it another little one, a baby thornback ray  So all in all the Quay came good for our first few points, and as usual a little surprise as well. Oh nearly forgot, We were fishing the 9.30 high, baits were the usual rag, lug, squid and mackie. __________________ It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming. ~John Steinbeck     |
