Nab Cod 30/12/07

Crew assembled on Helindie at 0700 yesterday, it was cold, very cold but spirits were high as were are hopes for the day to come.
We expected a bit of a sea to still be running after the blow of Fri/Sat but armed with a F2 forecast from Metcheck it would flatten out,
a small sharp chop accompanied by a big swell made for a bumpy trip to our mark east of the nab tower.
But with this comming up who cares.



Arrived at slackwater, bait was again squid mounted on fixed pennel rigs, I dont like fishing at slack as you get very few bites if any.
(my opinion only) Crew was Ray and I Steve (the bass) and Louis,latter two on their third boat trip, so while they intently watched rod
tips I settled back with a coffee. Tide began to run.... on came the doggies then the straps



Banter was flowing as all four of got in straps...until Ray gave a little chuckle.



That gave us a boost and led to Ray taking the micky mercessly as I boated another strap. Until...



During the morning we had been joined by all sizes of boats, private and charter



Jo-Dan out of Portsmouth.
At full flow bites dried up and no fish came to the boat, as it slackened back came the fish dogs staps and another two cod (Ray and I)
Louis was still play with the conger.



At four we called it a day and headed for home, a red letter day, umpteen dogs and straps with four cod could you ask for more?
