| Eastney 20/12/07 Having not been out for a while myself and Maghouse got a short pass for a few hours tonight. Things did not look good ,with the cold still conditions of the last two weeks and so it proved. By 2230 we had caught 9 very small bass between us and decided to head home for a nice cup of Yorkshire tea. We put the poor fishng down to the very cold still weather,the sea has really cleared and the temp of the shallows has plumeted,another good blow from the south west should liven it up again. Anyway merry christmas to you all.      |

Only a couple of days now and I will be less than 500 yards from the beach for a couple of weeks.....not fished for a while....hope there is a Westerly around the corner!! | Re: Eastney 20/12/07 .... and it was so cold ... as a Southern wimp - I had to put my rubber gloves on ! Very interesting theory by the great Dr GW about the water temperature, the water temp has dropped by about 5 degrees locally in the last few weeks and therefore a lot of the smaller food had gone so the fish look in deeper water, also as the fish metabolism will slow right down - they don't need as much food so look less .... A good SW blow will stir the bottom up, drive in the food and mix the warmer deeper water with the shallows to bring the fish closer .....
