Hmm, don't know about B&Q forks, but the important thing is flat prongs in my experience (I used to dig yellowtails for a shop in Deal - s*d that for a lark, it's hard graft!), I had a Spear & Jackson with flat prongs, with the ends then ground off to make it go through the sand quicker. The problem with an ordinary garden fork is that the prongs are usually square, and too curved. I think the ones to get are called potato forks. The more you use it, the better it gets though, as the sand shines and sharpens it up.

I also tried on of those narrow ones with a long straight handle, but never got on with them. Always seemed a bit flimsy for the job, tbh.

Gonna have a butcher's in B&Q later though to see what the deal is!

CheerZ,
JB.

Ok for two rods, i usually use 3!! two in the tripod. one on the side When fishing the main river channel sometimes need to be fishing close middle and further out. Works well.... until you get a rattle on each rod that is!

Usually fish down there on smallish tides so tide comes in a bit slower.

Cheers

CheerZ,
JB.
I think it is similar to a Potato fork flatter and more straight.

Let me know if you find it at B&Q.

Cheers
Shaun

Re: Flatty Bashing - River Taw

sounds good. if succesful and people are up for it perhaps we could setup a friendly winter flounder league for forum members. we could fish an estuary in each members area!

Top man, thats the way we learn from each other's areas and learn how to become better anglers.

I'd be in for that maybe others would be as well.... How about it guys?

Cheers

Re: Flatty Bashing - River Taw

yeah we would all get to meet each other and all get to have the advantage of the 'home' knowledge when its in our area! would keep it all friendly obviously but a bit of friendly competition keeps things interesting aswell i think! would be quite cool - if anyone else is up for it of course!

Re: Flatty Bashing - River Taw

yeah we could do. the loughor esturary has the welsh open estuary competition this year aswell but to be honest it significantly lowers our chance of having a succesfull or enjoyable session. a lot of people who enter cannot cast straight and when you are shoulder to shoulder on the prolific marks this causes big problems. also the amount of lead hitting the water spooks any mullet or bass that are around which doesnt leave much fun! - dunno bout u but i would rather have a mark to ourselves where we can spread out and try different tactics and just take it easy!!

Cool Re: Flatty Bashing - River Taw

Just to let you guys know the Taw is full of crabs right now and your bait will be stripped in seconds. Need a bit more rain to flush the little B....ers down past our mark.

Will keep you posted.

Cheers
Shaun
