Nailors Charity Match - Hamble 11/11/7

Fished the comp this morning - just made it - why do they put the off button right next to the snooze button on the alarm

Anyway, made it, signed in and was told "go where you like" so I did, didn't fancy the trek up towards the jetty for the next free beach spot, so a quick look at the marina/rocks side looked quite good but a bit snaggy, so there I went.

Proved to be a good choice, first cast was a small Bass - one of the smallest I have ever seen ! closely followed by a Flounder at 24cm which I was to learn was undersize, used to fishing in 18cm comps - this was to be 25cm minimum

Caught another not long afterwards - much better size at 1lb exactly.

That was it, no more sizeable fish all day, very slow going - had 6 fish in the end with just the 1 to count but chuffed to find out I had came 4th behind a 2lb Bass, 1lb2oz Flounder, 1lb1oz Flounder ..... so £50 worth of tackle - one happy bunny

Thanks to Nailors for the organisation and Cuckoo for he real hard work in getting it all set up and well organised .... even had a burger delivery - the way forward for competitions !

A few pics ...

View back up to the Jetty

Rods and ships

Smallest Bass I think I have ever caught - gave a micro Bass bite !

Flounder of 24cm & the winner !

Thanks guys, but if cuckoo says he beat me into third place by 1oz - don't believe him - I saw him shove a brick in his fish's mouth

Re: Nailors Charity Match - Hamble 11/11/7

cheerz guys,
i feel we were all winners in asmuch as we raised a fair pot for the m/s charity.
despite fish being thin on the ground it was good to head back to my old stamping ground and meet up with some buddys from the forums.
a big thanx to the organisers who set up this well attended event, anyone know how many fished?
i think, by and large every one had a good day out and i'm looking forward to the next, if i can escape wiltshire at the weekend.

gj.
