| well trying to make best of these big tides I knew this was going to be a long weekend Saturday working in Lyme regis with a brilliant view of lyme bay and chesil all day really makes you want to go and fish !!!!! ![]() so on sat night went off after work to club comp at west bay there were 26 members booked in for this comp, most fished either east beach or the pier I joined in with others on east beach looking east ![]() looking west to piers ![]() was greeted by Si's (Esaa)ever faithfull companion(and nearly club mascot) now cleaned up after last weeks channel mud !!!!!! ![]() well the fishing was poor and we had to scratch for anything as usual when i seem to fish one of the club main matches I was having a bit of a 'mare I lost 6 sets of gear, some whilst playing fish(kept finding a snag 20-30 yrd out on retrieve ) lost something that had ratchet going then crashed rods down before i grabbed in time(fish gone!! ) had several undersized pout and the cutest baby smalleyed raywe were wondering how far up against the cliff we would be pushed by tide but luckily we were ok , rain stayed away after initial downpour and fished most of eve just in teeshirt and jumper did manage too weigh in though with a pout and a doggie but was way down board comp was won by Taff(well done again mate) with a good mixed bag specimin fish of the night was a fantastic ballan wrasse of 6lb 8 1/2 ounce for tony ![]() no cod showing this far along chesil(reports from tackle shop confirmed this as well) so will have top return further up soon as a consolation I did win a bottle of wine in the raffle, home and bed just before 2 alarm again at 6.40 ![]() Sunday Raced back from working lyme regis again and met baggie (both running late as ever. dont think getting home at 6,45 and leaving 7 .45 was good plan to start with mmmm )and we headed off to jacobs(had quickly considered going straight too pub as pouring down at 7, this may have been better idea) Wind was from east and there was a good swell and not too much surf baggie predicted the rain this time to appease the weather gods , and wasnt to be proved wrong when at 10 the rain started, the only fish of the eve was this scrawny whiting for baggie(took pic for hunt but he already got one) ![]() so we took shelter in the kings arms at Otterton wondering wether should have fished on and comfort zones etc, but too be honest i was knackered and beer seemed a damn good ideagood social weekend roll on wed night and dawlish ![]() dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives |
