Bait for Dungeness??

Hello,

We've decided to head down to dungie tomorrow (thanks for all the replies about Dover breakwater) as it's a bit easier for everyone. Where's the best place to stop and get bait, I've not been down there for years, is there still the bait hut up there and any ideas what time it opens? Also, what time does Micks Tackle at Hythe open?

Thanks for all the help!!

Re: Bait for Dungeness??

Hello,

Well, we arrived at Hythe about 8ish, weather was nasty and Micks tackle was shut (says on his web page he opens at 8!?) but luckily we spotted another tackle shop just down the road that I never realised was there. Loaded up with yellow tails and dungie lug and headed off to the power station. Got there and it was still raining but not too heavily now thankfully as I'd promised everyone the weather report was dry! Fished from about 9 until 16:30 and all that was caught was one Bass by me - possibly the smallest Bass ever, barely bigger than the hook and one crab. Terrible day fishing wise - 4 blokes, 7 rods all different ranges and bait combinations fished but it was dead!!!! At least the sun came out though! All I heard caught by others on the beach was a couple of mackeral but nothing else. Never mind, going to try the breakwater next time.
