Dover Breakwater - Any good for 29/09/07? Hi All, Have been meaning to go fishing for absolutely donkeys but have only managed Worbarrow this year. Me, my dad and my father in law fancy the breakwater this weekend the 29th, tides are high, is this good or no matter? It's got to be a day fish so we think this is probably our best bet around Kent!?! Also, am I correct in thining the boat leaves at 9am? Where does it go from and is there parking near by? One last question....what time do the tackle shops open down there, can we get bait in Dover before getting the boat? Any info/tips would be greatly appreciated!! Mike.

Re: Dover Breakwater - Any good for 29/09/07? wow ! so many questions, dover breakwater is a wonderful venue which should be coming into its own in the next few months with the codling arriving, this time of year is usually very good for bass out there, beware though, you are fishing in strong tides and in deep water, the tides can sometimes be unfishable , if there are spring tides then it can be particularly difficult, but if the outside is hard you can always fish inside the harbour, fishing on the breakwater is usually cancelled if there is a force 5 or more forecast so keep your ear out for the early morning shipping forecast. the good thing with dover is that if the breakwater is closed you still have 2 other piers to fish, the boats leave the dump head at 8 am, i will pm you with directions on how to get there and where to park there are 3 tackle shops in dover close to where you park, they all open about 7 - ish giving you plenty of time before you catch the boat, the tackle shops are, brazils, channel angling and bills ,you can find them all in the yellow pages best of luck mate

Re: Dover Breakwater - Any good for 29/09/07? Hi, Got your pm, brilliant, thanks. The tide is an 8.2 for Saturday, will this make thigs tough or not, we could do Dungeness as an alternative, or one of the piers as you say but I've heard stories of hoards of mackie bashers, we just want a few hours relaxed fishing rather than ducking flying feathers!?

Re: Dover Breakwater - Any good for 29/09/07? to be honest , 8.2 is a biggie, but you will not get hoards of mackie bashers out there,as i have said,if the outer wall is unfishable then the inner harbour comes into its own, some very nice flats have been caught there over the years,it can be rather snaggy though maddies down the wall on french booms accounts for loads of pollack out there and whole squid close in can be a killer for the bass hope you have a good time mate
