| Got myself a wee inflatable with an outboard, based at Bursledon and intend trying a bit of estuary fishing on the Hamble. Anyone got any idea if there's anything worth catching down there? (apart from wee green crabs and bladder wrack) I've seen fish disturbing the surface quite far up towards Botley, but have no idea about local byelaws etc (Have checked with the harbour-master, and was told that there are few restrictions other than common sense and courtesy. So can I assume its ok to just get in the boat and start "dunking"? |

| Welcome P.D. There's a good run of Bass under the bridge, rag & stick get in the way, further up you'll get mullet, flounder and in the upper reaches the odd Trout. Down by the mouth (of river) smoothies, rays, small tope, macks and bass, although most of the bass tend to be schoolies. |
