Monday 30th Looking Good!! After having a sneak look ahead, it looks like Monday is going to be nice. Grrrreat. About time too!! With the tides on the increase coupled with a 7.20am or a 7.30pm high water, it might not be a bad bank holiday after all. All that is left is where to go. Want it to be Torbay area (two kids with me) so I have to consider safety. Sick of the breakwater, so someone please suggest somewhere else.....I know it will be busy so I favour the morning tide.

Re: Monday 30th Looking Good!! Thanks steve. Have already considered that one. Thinking of the rocks a little further along?! Someone said southside is better but have never found a way down that looks safe. What do you think/know? Cheer's.

Re: Monday 30th Looking Good!! i went walking at sharkham point and found some nice safe flat platforms on the rocks st. mary's bay side of sharkham i havent yet had the transport to fish down there but would imagine it would be good for bass macky and such and i would guess because it is out of the way from the tourist it might not be as busy as berry head or the breakwater. i would go down there on the morning tide and fish with a live pout or prawn or even sandeel whichever is easiest for you to obtain but pout would be the best bet at this time of the year and i think it has potential or big bass. take a walk sunday afternoon the parking is free at sharkham point carpark walk down over the grass to the sea then track back a little towards st mary's bay (the left) and there is some big flat platforms of rock that all seem worth a dabble. __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think!

Re: Monday 30th Looking Good!! UPDATE... Went with two of my kids to Princess Pier Torquay for the morning tide. Result was scratchy at best. Strong westerly breeze ment that float fishing was a nightmare. All the three of us only managed a garfish and a very small pollock. Will venture out again this evening (without the kids) for a little rock hopping. Maybe that wind will drop.

Re: Monday 30th Looking Good!! wow u went early then kiwi. i visited gasworks beach (holicombe) last night fished 2 rods on the bottom one with worm the other with sandeel had one good run on the sandeel before it got dark and then picked up 4 pout on the worm after dark other than that not much to write home about but it was calm and sheltered from the wind and we got to see a dozen or so dolphins which still seem to be doing laps of the bay. i say get down sharkham or even visit the other side of the bay and try anstey's cove maybe even oddicome beach or petitor somewhere like that. in the bay isnt much good at the moment because of them dolphins im sure __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think!

Re: Monday 30th Looking Good!! I was talking to a chap this morning who said he's fished princess pier for years. Said that this summer season is the worst he's ever known. Blames the dolphins, seals and above all, the end of the sewer outfall at hopes nose.
