baggie and ping do a double on chesil

well as part of local club weekend comp we decided that we were going to try west bexington for a plaice before heading back west to Sea Town for other fish to add to tally, this was going to be 2 new venues for rich and 1 for me

picked up rich just after 3 and after our usual faffing about got to chesil about 4.30
place was already a bit busy as there was a big comp planned for the eve but thought we were early enough, as beach looked averagely empty

headed off too right and up and over shingle to find guy was already way past us putting numbers onto shingle for pegs

well we eventually found what we thought was a huge gap between 2 pegs and set up, and got comfey(saw guy over to right bringing in a flatty game on we thought!!)

out went the rigs all blinged up and hopefull for plaice

then at 5.30 a guy came along and said we were in his peg(but phoned organiser calling us a couple of freelancers and he then moved along the beach), cheers mate

the beach then rapidly filled with all the others for the comp all practicing their strange pre comp routines or casting regulary out with a plain lead???
whats all that about then paul??

we were still blanking
beach now really full
looking east

looking west

then at 7 pm the weird sight of hundreds of headtorches heading down to water edge in unison as all comps baits went out

well we fished on till 8 with rich eventually bringing in a v small rockling, which gave a huge bite indication, and oved onto seaton

well this is a cracking little beach and were set up and fishing by 8.40, high tide 10.15

well i still couldnt buy a bite and was getting a bit despondant as i watched baggie haul doggies and rockling, also whenever i distance cast(well for me) i got bites but snagged bad as well )

knowing others in club had plenty of dogs and also wrase, and bass etc for comp i knew had 0 chance when i eventually caught a doggie at about 12 to save a blank i didnt bother to weigh as was happier just not blanking
left about 12.45 and got home about 2 and found myself locked out and manged to 1/2 wake mrs ping breaking in, then lost an hours sleep due to BST and was def not happy when heard alarm at 7 for work which ended up being a long day

a nice social day will def be back to sea town is a lovely place

dave

ps have loads of bait left over but think lost any near passes too drown them playing the burglar at 2am sat

Well, mate, it's nice before the start of a match to stretch the line if you've just recently filled the spools...and also it checks to see if the reels are set right for chucking before the start of a match....best to have a blow up BEFORE the match starts rather than smash it up first chuck of the match....

Re: baggie and ping do a double on chesil

Good report mate... It was a cracking evening. I loved fishing at Sea Town, and can now say I've fished the famous Chesil beach.... Okay so the most miniscule rockling you've ever seen was the net result, but hey ho, NOT A BLANK!

Gotta laugh at the comp lad though. Freelance anglers! Ha! Made my night that did... Baggie and Ping. Have rods, will travel. No mark too small..

It was interesting being in the middle of a big comp like that though... The guys either side of us were obviously hardened competitors and it was interesting just watching them fish.

Having said that, of the few competitors we could see, I only saw 2 fish pulled in after the start time and one of them was my tiny finger sized rockling!

Sea Town is a cracking place to fish.... You know when a venue just *feels* right? Well this was one of those times, a very pretty little bay, with the lights of Lyme Regis off to the right and a pub right on the beach. I even caught a few (admittedly boring) fish. We'll be back here, that's for sure....

All in all a great night, if a little late on the return... It was 3am by the time I got my head down and I had to be up by 7am for golf... Needless to say it didn't happen! Before I did drop off I did manage to get a photo of this rather shadowy figure lurking near your house mate...

Crimewatch latest?

Cracking report Dave...sounds like you had an amusing session, despite the lack of fish...but at least you didn't blank.

Sounds like you will have to do a little grovelling to Mrs pingu.....that'll cost you
