hill head, 23rd.

i ventured out as usual starting with the mad rush down to the solent to try and beat the sunset for a bit of bait diggin', i just about made it and managed to scratch out 20 odd rag and a few common lug b4 the light failed.

bait;- lug/rag, black lug, mackerel, and one hook full of slipper.

then wandered off to hillhead, i met a guy there on the wall and had a quick natter then left to fish under the cliffs, it was about 8pm and the tide was just about due to start flooding.

high tide;- was for about 2am at a guess

weather;- dry , bright, cold , light winds sort of n/w.

sea state;- flat.

with the gear dragged off down the beach and spot selected i just stood there and watched the tide push in over the sand for 1/2 an hour or so.........

something didn't feel right, dunno what , being somewhat disenclined to drag all the kit back to the car and spend all night driveing back and too till i found somewhere that looked fishy, stubbornly i set up and made a start,

rigs;- 2 hook flapper , size 2 hooks. pulley with a single 3/0.

well it was .....quiet, with just the odd little knock that came to nothing,
i had a good knock about 2 hours b4 high water which looked like it might have been a ray but that gave me the slip too.

with no bites after h/w , being cold and frustrated i left at 5am, i saw 2 guys fishing the harbour end of the wall as i passed, but didn't stop coz i just didn't want to hear that they had had a good night.

only 2 plus points to this session,
1, i got out and fished.

2, new reflective rod top is the dogs danglies
lets just say- i used to have a spare hi-viz jacket, the jacket got binned but i kept the grey reflective strips
with my petzel pointing 90 degrees away its still well visable , point the light at it and its blinding.

must do better next time.

Re: hill head, 23rd.

Bad luck m8. Though in these cold winds, such a shallow venue is likely to be hard going...
Tightlines for next time.
