Eastney - St Georges Rd 23/3/7

Myself & Gullyworm fished our usual spot last night/today 2100 - 0300 HW0233
Calm, overcast & clear, slight Northerly wind & bloody cold !

Lots of fish caught .... Gully first with a triple shot of Bass, Bass & Cod - flash git ...

Then it was lots of Pout & Schoolies for both of us all night long, I ended up with a Dozen Pout & half dozen Bass, Gully also had dozen or so Pout & similar Bass. All caught on rag/lug tipped with usual squid - most at distance.

Getting bored with all these Pout, Gully said he was switiching to big baits/hooks close in and started with a 4/0 pennel & whole squid with lug ... no sooner had he cast than I am beckoned back to the Gully camp to see John with this big old grin on his face ..... wonder why ?

A stonking 5lb1oz Bass caught on whole squid & lug - just 5-10 yards out

My big hooks/baits came to nothing - anyway, wanted to catch some more Pout so what Gully started - I finished - my triple shot of Pout, Pout & Codling on my last cast !

So - a great nights fishing for a cold March night - fish of the night has to be Gullys superb Bass

and catch of the night - must be my double shot of pout & 4 rigs - thought it was a monster fish as I reeled that lot in

... thats it - beddy bye byes - told you I'd post tonight

Re: Eastney - St Georges Rd 23/3/7

Cant believe you sat up and posted at 0400
Respect I think

On a serious fishing side,my total catch for the evening was 9 Bass god knows how many Pouting,2 Pollocks 1 Dab and a coddling of about 1lb
You also had all your fish ,the bloke next to me had numerous small bass and pout and also a coddling.
What i m getting at is that after dark on Eastney beach the fishing can be really good for March, yet we had the beach to ourselfs again .
Most people seem to fish this spot in the day and are lucky if they scratch out a plaice, whilst at night it is a totally different beach.
I know when i would rather fish
