Yep you got it - a competition so I blanked again - I give up

Mind you - so did half the others ... fish caught tonight between 25 anglers :
11 Rockling
1 Flounder
1 Dogfish

Winner took home £120 - £60 biggest bag, £60 biggest fish ..... a dogfish - a single 1lb dogfish won the lot

Still - I managed a first - fishing in the snow !

Unlucky mate. There's GOT to be something different to when you go out for pleasure. What kind of peg did you get last night? If you'd been pleasure fishing would you have bothered on that tide?

Think the Rockling were caught all along ie. no specific area - the doggie came in on Peg 3 or 4 - close to an outfall pipe that is there - probably explains that one.
The tide was good - 5.0 spring but if it was pleasure fishing - I would have stayed until 0200 approx ... the fact we finished at least an hour before HW probably accounted for the lack of fish ? who knows
Guess it sorts out the men from the boys ... but there again luck plays a big part in these scratchy matches IMHO ...

When we fish for pleasure it tends to be places we know will fish well.
But when your match fishing the venue is chosen for you as is the peg ,often venues you wouldnt dream of pleasure fishing.
With Pagham most people know it doesnt fish well untill the smuts and bream arrive in May,but thats match fishing
