SCUMMERS "VERSUS" SKATES The outcome !!!

Morning anglers ,
well last night was the BIG MATCH !!!!!!, town quay (southampton) ,a great turn out as well me ,gullyworm maghouse and friend , monkey nuts,fingers ,gary , steve and andyg turned up for a few hours after fishing eastney with tony bolton, so a great start , started at 7pm weather was a little windy sea state ,choppy but nothing we couldnt handle , as darkness fell the fun began ,with everybody catching plenty of pout and whiting , sorry guys had to photo this pout i caught for the species hunt lol ,



a great selection of fish were caught , with john catching a lovely pollack of about 2 1/2 lbs , then promptly throwing it back without a photo shoot, he didnt know that a pollack of that size is quite a rareity on the quay , sadly he didnt stop there he then went on kick all our a**es , with a few doggies ,



his mate (sorry cant remember his name ) on his first sea trip caught this lovely looking dab ......



then my turn at last with something that didnt resemble a pout or whiting ,
a doggie .......



not to be outdone john again with a cracker of a dover sole ......



now thats 1 bloody nice fish , and very early or late too !!!!! , as the tide hit high all went dead , and the wind started to pick up , getting really strong ,so john rob and co headed home at 12 pm and me fingers and gary went on to fish the itchen but alas no more fish , so all in all a great night at the quay of which im glad our chosen venue produced some nice fish for the skates !!!!!, species caught last night ......

not a bad night nights fishing even if it was john that caught nearly all of them ! well done mate a great nights fishing , i put it down to johns casting ability, he certainly knows how to throw a lead !!!!!!! ,
anyway great to finally meet a few new faces , have a laugh and catch some fish what a way to spend an evening , well done to the skates on winning the first round , and im looking forward to round 2 your choice ,

A good night indeed ...... for John ..... seriously, he did really well with 2 stonking Fish - never seen a Pollack as big as that from the shore & to round off with a lovely Sole, nice to see. I had to make do with the usual Pout & Whiting even though towards the end, after much grunting, birdies and swearing I managed to hit the same shell bed John had found but just the odd 1 or 2 bites and no fish.

Hats off to John for winning it for the Pompey boys ....

Although I am a miserable sod when I fish, did speak to the lads and really good to put some faces to names even if our initial chat to Andyg was a bit bizzare - like something out of a Russian spy movie - who are you ? why who are you, are you in a club ? might be why do you want to know ? what forum are you on ? secret ... are you red squirrel - the snow lies heavy on a winters morning ..... was a laugh really !!! Next time we will have to wear a red rose on our lapel !

Well done to Andy for fishing all day at Eastney & then coming over to the Quay for the evening and then head home to London ... dedication mate ...

Thanks Cuckoo & crowd for organising that one & not throwing us in ... Round 2 will be Eastney I think

Good to meet you guys!

I only found out that you were all going to be there when Tony told me during the day - otherwise I would have planned it and fished properly with you all. Problem was that I was knackered and unprepared (not to mention stressed out).

Good to see some decent fish coming up - Didn't see the pollack but the sole was a beauty!
